Product Description The Health-o-Meter HDC100-01 "Grow with Me" Teddy Bear Scale is a first-of-its kind consumer baby and toddler scale. As your child grows, the scale easily converts from a tray to a platform, making this a versatile and cost-effective device for weighing your child as he develops from a newborn to a toddler.
The large, easy-to-read 1.2-inch LCD display is front-facing so reading the weight is a breeze. Also, for added accuracy with small children, the scale weighs in half-pound increments up to 60 pounds. Calibration is a snap with a "zero out" feature that allows you to adjust for the weight of clothing or a diaper.
The scale can be operated with or without the tray. When using the tray, make sure that it is securely locked into place before placing your baby on the scale. Simply lay your baby on the tray and read the display. To use the scale without the tray, you'll need to remove the tray by turning the locking nut clockwise. The tray is replaced by four rubber plugs and a supplied plastic cover tab. Once the cover is in place, hold your baby upright on the scale, and place the baby's feet so that the weight is evenly distributed. Of course, everyone knows that a baby rarely holds still. Health o Meter has an answer. If your child is moving, press the "Hold" button to lock in the correct weight. This function displays the baby's average weight for the time period.

Operating the Scale Place the scale on flat, level surface. A hard surface, such as a tile or linoleum floor, is the best for maximum accuracy. If the display shows "0:0", the scale is set to pounds/ounces; if the display shows "0.00" the scale is set to kilograms/grams. Press the lb/kg button to select between pounds or kilograms. Very Accurate July 21, 2010 Huck Finn We bought this scale to weigh our new baby and follow her growth. This scale is very similar to the Health-o-Meter we use in the ER so I thought I would try it out at home. Now that we have had it a few weeks we have been able to check it against our pediatricians scale and it has matched ever time to within an ounce. It has a 'Zero Out' function so I put on a blanket for padding a new diaper and a matching onesie to what my daughter is wearing on the scale and then zero the scale. Then when you remove the new diaper and onesie the scale will show a negative weight (about 1.5 oz) then when we put her on the scale wearing her diaper and onesie we can get an accurate baby only weight without disturbing her too much by having to undress her. If you are tracking their weight you should weigh them at the same time of day (for example noon or midnight) each time just like we do at the hospital. The scale has a 'hold' function to try and compensate for a wiggly baby but I find it to be less accurate than just watching the results and averaging them in your head. If you weigh them just after they wake up then they are a lot less wiggly and this helps get more accurate measurements. I have used much more expensive hospital-grade scales (for example Madella BabyWeigh) and if you want to measure baby consumption before and after a feeding then they are perfect for that use. However if all you want is baby weight for charting or just peace of mind then I highly recommend this scale.
Same product as Salter 914 Electronic Baby and Toddler Scale at more than twice the price August 12, 2009 C. Sternal-Johnson (Rochester, NY USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
The Salter 914 Electronic Baby and Toddler Scale is $55 on Amazon and from the product photos is the exact same scale. Same shape, same colours, same attachments, etc.
Baby Scale August 2, 2009 ewolf21 This product works very well. Take it out of the box and it's ready to go. Syncs up pretty well to the big fancy scale at the doctor's office for a fraction of the price. This is the scale you should buy.
Nice baby scale June 3, 2009 Sheng Zhang (Chicago, IL USA) Very precise digital read. We got it for our 7-month son.If you need one for your baby, this is the one with good price.
Love it! April 26, 2009 Jennifer K. Aldoy I have a little one with very little weight gain. Purchasing this scale helped to keep the doctor visit costs down. The scale works perfect for us. It was worth every penny.
