3 out of 5 stars A little disappointing   December 21, 2008

I was led to believe by reviews I read that this would be a comprehensive reference for Expression Web 2. Not so, in my opinion. There is little more here than can be found in Expression Web's Help system (which is not very satisfactory). For example, the discussion of positioning and layers is most inadequate, and in some details, incorrect. The book tries to cover too much and in so doing gives short shrift to almost every topic. Not the answer.

4 out of 5 stars This ain't my first website...   December 16, 2008

but it's one of my first and it's my biggest undertaking. My business is interior design and with the economy in the tank I decided to build the website myself. In the past I'd either hand written the HTML myself or used FrontPage. I didn't even have FrontPage installed on my current computer and knew the version I had was so outdated it would be useless so I was going to upgrade. That wasn't possible.

After looking around I found Expression Web and downloaded the trial version. After a few tutorials it seemed like something I could teach myself so I bought another book, bought the program and began. It didn't take me long to discover the other book just wasn't thorough enough and didn't cover much more than the basics.

I read some of the reviews here and decided to buy this one. I love it! I read the first 15 or so chapters in a weekend, worked along with the text so I would absorb it and now I'm almost done with my site--the first of 3 so far!

The two programs the author includes on the CD have been a big help as well. The dropdown menus are wonderful.

I will definitely look for future books by this author.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent resource   December 5, 2008

I've had this book for several months now and just had to comment that it is the ONE resource with all the information I need. Mr. Cheshire certainly knows what he's talking about. The step by step examples really helped me get through some difficult tasks.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible "How To" Book   November 23, 2008

This book reads like an index. There is no tact to it whatsoever. If you have a specific problem and need to look it up, I assume it would be fine. However, if you want to learn the product look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 stars Beginners should look elsewhere to learn Expression Web 2   October 24, 2008

As a beginner in Expression Web 2, I found this book way over my head. I thought the author presented the material in a poor order for a beginner, and I never did figure out the best starting point for me. I will have to go to the book store and browse through other books on Expression Web 2 to find one that starts at the beginning.
