Don't believe the hype: though some critics and viewers decried the sophomore season of the hit fantasy series Heroes, the core of the program remained as strong as in its debut network run. To be sure, the 2007-2008 Writers Guild strike hobbled the show, and producers stumbled by stranding two of its most intriguing characters: Super-charged Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) is taken out of the action after being struck with amnesia, while Hiro (Masi Oka) is sent to feudal Japan, where he encounters his own idol, Takezo Kenzei (David Anders). Both are overcomplicated story arcs, even by Heroes standards, and their connection to the rest of the season occasionally requires some mental gymnastics. But the crux of the season--the Company's development of the power-draining Shanti virus and its potentially devastating effects on both average citizens and superhumans like Niki Sanders (Ali Larter), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis) and primary villain Sylar (Zachary Quinto)--is solid, gripping material. The introduction of new characters like the lethal Maya (Dania Ramirez) and Kristen Bell as the electrically charged (in both the literal and figurative sense) Elle Bishop also up the dramatic stakes, even if their presence may require a scorecard for some viewers. In short, the few kinks in the armor of Heroes: Season 2 ultimately don't detract from the show's drive and vision. Season two spreads its supplemental features across all four of its discs; chief among these are commentary tracks by the cast and crew on all eleven episodes. The participating talent ranges from creator Tim Kring and stars Ventimiglia, Oka, Quinto and Greg Grunberg to composers Lisa Coleman and Wendy Melvoin, which helps to provide a wide variety of information about almost every aspect of the show's production. Featurettes cover everything from the history of Takezo Kenzei to in-depth looks at scenes from the season, while "Untold Stories" explores storylines that were left unfinished due to the writers' strike.  Good, not great October 6, 2008
Season Two of Heroes is a good season, but not a great season. It pales in comparison to the second season. I will put this blame on the writer's strike that occurred at the time. Overall, I would still recommend this season to anyone.
Not Season One, but still compelling October 6, 2008
Another year, another big mystery and the world to save. Lots of new heroes, lots of changes for the original set. Hiro goes back in time, Matt and Mohinder are caring for Molly, Micah goes to post-Katrina New Orleans. Both Hiro's dad and Micah's grandma are former Star Trek stars, leading me to wonder if there's a connection there....
It's not as fascinating as season one, and the price is a little high for a half-season shortened by the strike, but if you're a Heroes fan, you should definitely pick it up.

My entire family enjoys Heroes, and we thought this DVD set was very good. The extra information was fun to watch and helpful to understanding the series.
Heroes October 5, 2008
Heroes is one of my favorite series. I find the writing, acting and direction highly entertaining. Season 2 was cut short due to the writer's strike. It could have ruined the series, but so far it has with held the strain of a shortened season. It is my opinion that even though the team behind heroes did an excellent job, you can tell the season finale was meant to be a little later in the storyline. Still, for $25 (or so) dollars, this will make a nice addition to anyone's TV/DVD library. The characters are well drawn out and the actors do a fine job of becoming there character. The one downside to the series; and it can be hard to tell what the exact reason is, whether it is budget related, poor writing/ direction, or scheduling/budget conflicts with the creative parties, is that story lines will at times be rushed through or cut off abruptly that will kind of off set the pacing of the series. This is not yet a deal breaker for my belief in the storytelling, but it can be a little unsettling. All I can say is that stick with the story. This is a good show and from what little I have season 3 it looks like this is going to be a good show with a long run. Plus with this type mytho's being created they can come back to this universe in so many ways.
Good but not great October 4, 2008
This season was good but not great. It was unfortunately cut short by the writer's guild strike. The beginning of season 3 was actually supposed to be part of this season and you can tell. The story in this season starts out slow just like in season 1 and then tries to pick up the pace as you see how all the characters are drawn towards their goals. I won't ruin anything here but it feels like the ending falls short because the we were supposed to be introduced to the villains. As I stated before, the villains story arc is now a part of season 3.
