The stainless steel and brass hardware is completely rustproof, as are the aluminum brackets that allow multiple mounting options and full 90-degree rotation: aim them to deliver the best possible sound in a variety of locations. The rustproof aluminum grilles have 55 percent open area for superior sound quality. Most importantly, the Atrium 45s rugged, weatherproof, design meets or exceeds several military specifications for water, wind, salt, and corrosion. Inside the completely sealed enclosure is a 4.5-inch Dynamic Balance mineral-filled polymer driver with butyl rubber suspension for pumping out amazing bass, while its .75-inch soft dome tweeter with neodymium magnet broadly distributes high frequencies to cover a large area with high fidelity sound. Polk's Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain.  Great outdoor speakers, nice to paint December 4, 2008
I bought 5 pairs of these for various outdoor areas around my rambling house; the sound is just terrific, no complaints, and I'm pretty picky. Clear and crisp, even at a high volume. The design is nice, simple, quality; great connectors, sturdy brackets; was easy to attach them and wiring was a breeze.
I painted all 10 speakers an oregano (dull green) color, using satin finish spray paint, and they blend in great with my house color now, and don't stand out like they would if they were white or black, which is terrific. The painting is a bit of a pain in the butt, but it was worth the trouble to take the time to do it right. I loved being able to customize them.

Excellent speakers, a lot of quality for the price. They are quite directional, so you have to be aware of the listening positions when mounting. Able to handle robust sound level and a fair amount of bass boost.

These are great little speakers. They appear very well made and were easy to install. Sound quality is excellent although as noted by some other reviewers they might be a little bright for certain tastes. I did not want thumping bass outside, just good clear vocals. These speakers certainly deliver.

these speakers have a great sound, but my experience is they don't last in the weather, I had to replace both speakers over a period of 2 years

Own several Polk speakers and love them all.
Mounting bracket is sturdy and well designed to hold speaker in any position. Good job Polk!
