3 out of 5 stars Good... But   November 16, 2008
well, this product was good, the sound quality was good BUT the volume is toooo weak, i barely heard it in a medium noisy enviroment.

1 out of 5 stars Lousy product   October 30, 2008

The Midland LXT340VP3 "20-mile" 2-way radio was a big disappointment. Based on its advertisement, it has a range of up to 20 miles in open space. From my experience, the most is could cover is about 20 meters in a residential area. It is likewise useless for comm between diff floors within a building. In summary, this product was a big letdown.

5 out of 5 stars Real walkie-talkies at a good price   October 26, 2008

These walkie-talkies were purchased for the small school where I work to assist in contacting our first-aid responder/facilities manager wherever on the grounds he might be. They replaced a costlier (but lower quality) model purchased at Target after some fieldtripping students plugged the charger directly into a European wall socket. These Midlands have made me glad they did.

The sound on these is clear and crisp, and the channel spectrum is broad enough that we've had no problem avoiding interference. Our campus is only about four acres, so we haven't had reason to test the stated range, but they do just fine in our brick and reinforced concrete building that is essentially a Faraday cage and the bane of cordless phones and wireless networks.

The call alert is also a nice feature, though annoying when pressed accidentally. I believe there is a lock on them to prevent accidental button presses, but I'm not that advanced a user and would hate to lose time in trying to figure out how to unlock it in an emergency!

Overall, a great product for our short-range needs.

4 out of 5 stars Decent radios   October 10, 2008
THESE RADIOS ARE NICE. THEY DO NOT HAVE LION BATTERIES AND DO NOT TRANSMIT 26 MILES. IT'S MORE LIKE 3 MILES, BUT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE KIDS.

4 out of 5 stars good range, good quality, would recommend   October 3, 2008
I bought these for my kids to play with in the yard, but they work so well the kids may not get them back. Took them to the cabin and hunting already and had excellent performance. Not as many frills as Motorola's I have had in the past, but i never used the extra features anyway.
