1 out of 5 stars Flawed design   September 6, 2008

Sure, this kettle looks great, but it has some major design flaws. The handle stays cool, but it curves down beside the body of the kettle so it is hard to get your hand around it without brushing your fingers against the side of the HOT kettle. Ouch!

Also, the whistle is not hinged like the ones on more expensive Chantal kettles, it just sits on top of the spout. The first time I heated some water in the kettle the whistle cap went flying across the kitchen when the kettle got hot. It is supposed to whistle, not send a projectile across the kitchen. Hey, at least I knew the water was ready.

Finally, the inside is stainless, not enameled, so be prepared for tea stains inside if you like to brew your tea bags in the kettle like I do. I returned this item after my bad luck. The more expensive Chantal kettles have some small design problems, but nothing as bad as this. The Ball kettle also has a very small capacity and the bottom is small so it likely won't completely cover the eye on your stove.

4 out of 5 stars Tea Ball + and -   June 26, 2007

I like the look. It is great color. The down side is there is a warning the plastic whistle will melt on a gas stove and the base is pretty small.

5 out of 5 stars Style and quality with an air raid siren.   March 10, 2007

First of all let me say that this little tea kettle is just cool looking!
We have the brushed steel version and it looks really nice on our stove.

It's smaller than normal but holds enough for a few large cups of tea.

If you fill it too high the whistle wont work properly but if you look on the inside of the kettle there's actually a little line (probably from manufacturing) that I use as a guide and I never have problems with it.

The harmonic whistle is a lot nicer than the standard squeal but its tone reminds me a bit of an Air Raid Siren. The first time I heard it I wasn't sure what the noise was.

But I like it and my fiance loves it, it looks nice and it's good and solid, sturdy design.

Great product.
