Worthy and wonderful set! October 18, 2008 I got this set last week! Its very good set at a price thats not very hard on your wallet(i bought it when it was on sale). The set is sturdy and nice. Handles sont become extremely hot and relatively easy to clean.
Lacks craftmanship. October 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was disappointed about one specific thing on this set. If you look very closely at the picture, you will see a thin gap between the stainless steel and the copper bottom at the base of the pans. I missed that before I purchased them, but upon receiving them could plainly see that the "thin gap" is an open seam between the two different metals on the pans. I own a set of 28 year-old Revere Ware with copper bottoms, and the copper on that set is fused and polished up against the stainless steel.
This 9-piece cookware set is manufactured in China and features a "3-layer encapsulated base construction" which is not really attached well at all. If you have any "boil-over" you'll end up with food in that gap between the copper and the steel.
I also noted several blotches, or stains on the copper bottoms of the pans right out of the box. The finish of the metalwork, overall, is substandard for a $300 set of pots, but seemed about normal for a $50.00 to $60.00 set.
The glass lids are thick, but the metal rims around the glass just don't quite meet close enough, and like the bottoms of the pans, there are gaps on the metal rims that wrap around the glass tops that should have been fused and polished.
The positive aspect of the set is that the brushed 18/8 stainless steel is very heavy, with good solid handles and lid knobs. I'm not too sure how long the gray "rubber" gaskets between the metal knobs and the glass tops will hold up under heat though.
I received the set quickly, but I had expected better workmanship in the finished product, based upon the "suggested" list price.
astonishing value October 10, 2008 This cookware is excellent. It heats evenly and slowly, responds quickly to temperature adjustments, and is solid without being too heavy. I'm very pleased.
A decent $55.00 set of cookware. October 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The set I got was not quite up to the perfection of the sets of the previous reviewers. The cuts(holes)in the handles are roughcut and there is slag from the processing of steel in various places on edges and holes-very rough finish work on all pieces in places. Rims are turned under on each piece and not rolled too well in certain areas and the rim is bent down in several places on the skillet (causing the lid not to fit well, of course-leaving a gap) and the base is warped and dented in one place.
Despite these flaws, it is worth the amount Amazon has the set for sale, IMO. The lids fit fairly well, and even better than some more expensive cookware...and are heavy. The set seems sturdy just not finished well at all in the set I received. It's attractive from a distance and I think it will be worth this purchase. The "limited lifetime" guarantee certainly is limited. If I had to mail the skillet back according to their instructions I would have to pay shipping to them plus send the manufacturer $6.00 to send it back to me. Keeping in mind I already paid for the skillet in the set that would make my purchase price of the set between 12 and 20 dollars more than I paid just to get a skillet that I assumed was not bent to start with. So the guarantee in that respect is a guarantee at a cost of +$15 (or,so) to the buyer. A 54.00 set quickly becomes a $69-75.00 (approx.) set. I'll just keep the skillet. If not for the severe flaws on the one piece (skillet) I would have given these a 4-star rating on their sturdy appearance. I really feel like these would stand up to some banging around and I do think they are a decent set for this low price.
Very Durable September 30, 2008 I brought this item and it is exactly like it looks in the picture. It is very durable and has a good weight. I was surprised because of the price and I did search the product on other sites (Amazon had the cheapest price and free shipping) and found everyone had good things to say and so far I found everything they said to be true.
