Product Description As the survivors continue to seek stability in their lives, forces both inside and outside the fort walls move them toward a final, climactic conflict between the living and the dead. Jenni, Katie and the others discover that they are not alone, that there is another enclave of survivors whose leaders plan to take over the fort.
Faced with a series of difficult decisions, each choice they make could lead to the deaths of those they love or, if not careful, their own demise.
Meanwhile, an army of the dead is descending on the fort. Soon, the living will face their ultimate fear...
...a siege by the dead.
But they will fight to the end to survive...
As the world dies.

Wow...Just wow July 24, 2010 michael havrish I have never written a review before but something told me I had to for this book. This book is AMAZING. The author develops the characters to the point where you love them and care what happens to them. You feel for them when they hurt. The descriptive writing is phenomenal! I was able to picture everything she described. I could smell, taste, feel, see and hear what she was writing. It was truly amazing. The only bad thing I can say about this is that there was a couple editing errors. But it, in no way, detracts from the book. I would recommend this book as well as the trilogy to ANYONE and not just zombie lovers! Buy it NOW! It is so very worth it!
Great story with a few issues July 9, 2010 Sarah I thoroughly enjoyed this trilogy - as a devotee of zombie lit, I found the story compelling, most of the characters well-crafted, and (perhaps most importantly IMO) the plot generally plausible. I've read these books eagerly, and highly recommend them on the basis of my above statements.
A few critiques, however, drawing on some of the critiques already given.
1. The one-dimensionality of wealthy characters. While I certainly don't mind harsh class-based critiques in my fiction, this could have been more solidly accomplished. People can be greedy and self-serving, and I thought this point was well illustrated in the bandit characters. When it came to the "upper" class individuals, however, they were all painted with the same brush stroke - from Blanche to the Senator. Bigoted, hateful, vengeful and materialistic - no diversity in terms of portrayal. This could have been helped with more solid character development for these individuals.
2. For the love of all that is good in the world of literature (including your books), please - PLEASE - seek out the employ of an experienced editor. While the grammatical errors were annoying, they were admittedly not so bad as to completely take me out of the story most of the time (except "chunked" v. "chucked"... that really needs to be fixed). But, there is some redundancy in the style of writing that could easily be remedied with a careful nudge from a sympathetic editor. I don't know how many times I read that someone was "bone weary", or that food had been devoured or savored "with relish", for example. These are fine descriptive terms, but they've been somewhat abused in their repetition in these novels. These were elements that did temporarily distract me from the story.
These were really my only main issues with these works. A short list, indeed - but a list that means the difference between 4 and 5 stars, in my opinion. Again, I will continue to recommend these books to those who enjoy the genre. I hope that more installments either in this particular story, or in the universe created within it, will come in the future.
A Zombie Fun Fest! June 22, 2010 Frank Scoblete (New York) I've loved zombie films ever since I sat mesmerized watching "Night of the Living Dead" in the movie theatre on a twin bill with "Freaks." I was hooked.
I've read some zombie fiction but most of it just hasn't clicked with me. Rhiannon Frater's trilogy clicks. Certainly there is action aplenty, heads exploding, gore spraying all over the place, people being viciously devoured and enough scenes where characters have to escape almost hopeless situations to satisfy the blood lust of zombie-lovers - but, hey, that is zombie fiction and you have to adhere to the conventions. In a love story, there better be love, right? In a zombie story...well, you get the idea.
I liked her lead characters and the fact that she tackled some current social issues without being too over-the-top and preachy.
Frater also sets the stage for the survival of the human race and how damn tough it's going to be and she concludes her trilogy with an epic battle between man and monster.
Congratulations Ms. Frater for a book well done.

This whole series was amazing! June 15, 2010 Ashlee (Seattle, WA) Yes, I am a horror genre fan, but, even if you're not, this entire series is amazing. I was sucked in from Book 1 and couldn't stop reading. These books were amazingly written and keep you mesmorized the entire time. The visuals I got in my head while reading these books were insane...I have never read a book before that I could see so clearly in my head. I was scared, sad (yes, I shed more than 1 tear for sure as I was so attached to the characters), happy and anxious while reading them. She does a wonderful job capturing the characters as a whole and doesn't cheat the reader of anything. You will become enthralled with the characters, what they are doing, and what is going on around them. I want to read them again...and, I probably will :)
The only complaint I have was that the series was a trilogy and didn't go on forever and ever:)
READ THEM!
Best Zombie books I've ever read May 4, 2010 Linda (NY USA) I love everything Zombie. I really, really love everything Zombie. OK, I've read a lot of books in this genre and watch all the movies I can. (sat through some real stinkers) I thought Brian Keene was pretty good and then I stumbled on these wonderful books. As soon as I finished the last book, I started over from the beginning...2 more times! My sister got the trilogy on my recommendation. She's on her second time through and her son has real all 3 once....so far. I didn't want to leave the Fort or the characters I grew to love. Some so much that, for example, I cried ALL 3 TIMES I got to certain parts and laughed at Calhoun every time.
I fear Rhiannon has ruined me for anyone else's foray into this genre as I just finished 2 other books that just left me flat. I haven't been this stoked about a writer in 25 years - when I picked up a book by the virtually unknown, Stephen King.
Thank you, Rhiannon, from the bottom of my heart.
