The Windy City alt-metal provocateurs Disturbed surprised everyone when their debut, The Sickness, sold over 2 million copies. Here, once again, the band's imperious chrome-domed vocalist David Draiman bleats out the band's messages of nonconformity, self-empowerment, and individuality with a passion and ferocity that hasn't been heard since the '60s--though there's little room for peace, love, and understanding in Disturbed's world. Instead, Draiman laces the band's message with equal parts rage, disgust, and menace, all delivered in a thundering voice that alternates from the lyrical to the grizzled. Ozzy Osbourne has called Disturbed the "future of metal," and he might be right; they have almost single-handedly plucked the genre out of the aggro dung heap and fueled it with intelligence. The band is just as aggressive here as on their debut, but they've lost some of their dark angst, and as a result have created a melodic, psychically lighter album, despite the fact that the CD kicks off with "Prayer," a conversation between Draiman and God, inspired by the singer's grandfather's death. --Jaan Uhelszki

5 out of 5 stars Great Album   November 3, 2008
Disturbed "Believe" LP was a great album i thought. Yes, most of these songs on here were Okay at first, but they all grew on me quick and i found out that i loved Disturbed's 2nd album. My favorite songs are Prayer, Liberate and Darkness. Here is my review.

Prayer - Good spiritual song, to be honest i don't think this song was only for Christians, i think it was meant for everybody so everyone that is having a hard time can have some hope for better days while listening to this song. Even if you don't really pray to anybody. Still a good track. 5/5 stars

Liberate - This one is a great track, has lots of agressive energy and the production and lyrics on this goes rapidly fast. One of my favorite songs on the album. 5/5 stars

Awaken - This is more of a stand up song. This song had to grow on me a little bit to get use to it. The production gets soft and mellow on the verses and when its the chorus it gets more agressive and fast. good song. 4/5 stars

Believe - The titled track of the album is not bad at all. Another song with a similar slow and mellow beat and on the chorus it gets agressive and fast. But its a different story and different production. More emotional in some of the lyrics. 4/5 stars

Remember - This is actually one of my other favorite tracks on the album, I liked the beat production and emotional energy on this song. One of Disturbed's powerful songs. 5/5 stars

Intoxication - Is a more fun agressive song, the production on the verses had to grow on me because it was kind of boring the first time i listen to it but i liked the chorus production the best. 3/5 stars

Rise - This song had a similar production with the song Intoxication but it sounded like that it improved a lot better. Different storyline, half was emotional energy and half had agressive energy. 4/5 stars

Mistress - This is my other favorite song on the album. The production and lyrics were great. I think this track had more emotional energy and David sounded angry on this one too. But it is a great track. 5/5 stars

Breathe - This song starts mellow and gets more energetic after the first 20 to 30 seconds of the song. Cool beat production. Couldn't really figure out the storyline, something about releasing your mind lol i don't know. But its a good song. 4/5 stars

Bound - This song has a more agressive production. Gets more mellow on the verses but the lyrics are agressive. I enjoyed the production on this song and it had another cool style to it. Its a more serious song from Disturbed. Its actually my other favorite song on the album. 5/5 stars

Devour - This song had more emotional energy. Another song that gets mellow on the verses and it gets more agressive almost at the end of each verse and on the chorus. Also the production gets more fast at the last 45 seconds of the song. Cool beat production too. 4/5 stars

Darkness - One of my most favorite songs and i think its the most emotional song on the album. Because the production is so soft and mellow, it makes the lyrics on the song more emotional and i feel like crying for some reason but i cannot let it out. Yea, its that emotional. 5/5 stars

Overall, Disturbed's 2nd LP "Believe" is a great album. All 12 tracks were great. But my least favorite track is Intoxication because i thought it could of done a little better job on the production of the verses but i know not every album can be perfect so i will not complain that much on that song. Its a great CD to have around. After listening to all 4 of Disturbed's albums i have to say this is my least favorite album of disturbed,. I personally think that The Sickness album was their best album. Ten Thousand Fists album was their 2nd best album. Indestructible is sort of tied with Ten Thousand Fist. But Believe album is in last place out of all 4 of their albums. But at the same time, i also loved the Believe album.

This is probably the best cd i own.i love every song on here.my favorite song is liberate

5 out of 5 stars best cd of them   June 7, 2008
After listening to all their Cds( including their last album indestructible) i can totally say this is the best Cd of them.
Songs like Believe, Remember, and Darkness have so much emotion and show a softer side, the singer can totally rock it without screaming ( doesn't he?) on he other hand songs like Prayer and Liberate have strenght and power on their sounds.
Buy it, good lyrics and sounds, Disturbed is a great band and this album shows their excellence.

The Believe album is great for any Disturbed fans or rock fans. It's great quality and you hear the other songs aside from the big ones the band makes that are also just as good.
