4 out of 5 stars The best of Sarah McLachlan   November 26, 2008
I have been a fan of Sarah McLachlan for a long time now. I first discovered her back in the very early '90s with her first two albums TOUCH and SOLACE prior to her meteoric rise in pop music. I always wished that people who jumped on the Sarah McLachlan bandwagon with her third album FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTASY had heard her earlier material. Thankfully they can even for a brief moment on her best of collection CLOSER. I am so pleased that Sarah had included "Vox", "The Path of Thorns (Terms)", and "Into the Fire". For the most part I do like CLOSER however I would have rather heard the non-live version of "I Will Remember You". The two new tracks "Don't Give Up on Us" and "U Want Me 2" are excellent, especially the latter. I do though have to wonder if "Don't Give Up on Us" has anything to do with Sarah's personal life, if not it is rather ironic considering her situation with the break up of her marriage. Overall CLOSER is a nice laid back album that gives me that same warm, comfy feeling that I get when I put on my favorite flannel pajamas.

5 out of 5 stars Strikingly Sarah   November 16, 2008
Sarah has a soothing, special voice. The songs are wonderful! We had to wait way too long for a "greatest hits" album.

5 out of 5 stars An Album of Classics   November 15, 2008

If you are a fan of Sarah Mc Lachlan you can't go wrong with this new collection bringing together all her new classic hits. I do so anxiously await her next album, hopefully filled with new creative and original music. The raw strength of her voice is unbeatable; her lyrics and passionate delivery remind me of a young, new up-and-coming artist, Arrica Rose in her newest album La La Lost. Her voice soft and sultry, but her strength like Sarah is in her words and the feeling drenching her songs. Check them out.

4 out of 5 stars 2 new songs!!!!   October 24, 2008

Ever since the release of "Afterglow" Sarah have managed in the recent years to offer a new dvd or cd every year doing the minimum effort or simply not doing anything new at all (Afterglow live, Mirrorball special edition, the Xmas album, Rarities and Bsides part 2) and I was more than anxious this year for a new album, I was sure her ideas to make a new product using old material were run out ! Big Mistake !!! I wasnt counting on a "Best Of" release, after all she didnt did that before!! , well I was of course a little angry and reluctant to get this one even if it had a couple of new songs, but you all know, Sarah is Sarah and theres no way she can do wrong when she creates something new, even if she doesnt create very often, I saw on you tube the video for "U Want me 2" and I fell again for her, I cant be mad at her after all I have to admit it , I love her and theres no way she can dissapoint me, so yeah! yesterday I get the cd at the record store, I played it on my car, of course I listened first "U want me 2" like.....mmmhhh!!!, fifthteen times? and then I listened the other songs, yeah! great song but same all by now, all of them have been a part of my life and I see it this way , this compilation is great to have it in my car stereo and keep my Sarah collection in my house.

So! 2009 HAVE to be the year Sarah releases a new album, with NEW MATERIAL please !!!!! I love her but I hope she doesnt abuse of my love (but I know cant never be mad at her)

5 out of 5 stars New Material   October 15, 2008

I love Sarah McLachlan and her beautiful voice, thats why I have all of her original stuff and she'll always be five star material to me, However I think she has problems coming up with new songs. Most of her albums consist of partial or entire previous compilations. I was really happy when she came out with 'Surfacing', eons ago, with its' all original material, but she doesn't seem to be able to keep the music flowing. She needs to team up with other talented musicians like Heather Nova, who seems to not have song writing difficulties. I think it would help her and it would be great to hear some new material.
