5 out of 5 stars An Evening with John Denver   November 12, 2008
I had been looking for this for years. I had this as a set of vinyl in the 80s. Though I have the Rocky Mountain Collection and many of the songs are the same, the concert performances are so much better. The seller provided it as promised and well within the shipment window promised.

5 out of 5 stars THE John Denver album to have   October 28, 2008
I have this album on vinyl and finally decided it was time to get the CD. This concert recording is the best! Often concert recordings are not my favorite but this one brings the warmth of John Denver to life.

5 out of 5 stars What a fun album!   July 13, 2008
My husband and I love this album! My mom has always loved John Denver and she recommended this album to me when I told her that our 'The Best of John Denver' cd was too scratched to play and my husband was sad. (I bought a replacement for that album too because I really like his older voice singing the songs). Now that I have listened to these discs many times already, I recognize it from my childhood when my mom would play it on vinyl. I loved 'Grandma's Feather Bed' and so many others. My mom asked me to buy this set for her birthday because she hasn't listened to it in years. (I think she's a little jealous). hee hee

5 out of 5 stars Where is the video of this concert?   May 23, 2008
Thanks John for your music, your work and your life. You are gone but definitely not forgotten, and your songs are only getting better with time.

I was fortunate enough to be at this show, most of the album was recorded the night I was there (opening night). In addition to being acoustically perfect the show was visually stunning, e.g. the incredible beauty of the video and images shown on three giant screens behind John brought tears to my eyes several times. This was back before they ruined the Universal Amphitheatre by putting a roof on it, and the views/moon/etc were simply astonishing.

If anyone happens to read this review who had something to do with producing this show, I remember seeing four or five high-end studio cameras filming the concert. I'd love to know what happened to this video (or film?) that was shot, and why it's never been released for public viewing. I'd also love to know if a version of this show (either audio or video) exists as it was performed? (Songs on the album are out of order.)

5 out of 5 stars John Denver at his Best!   May 16, 2008
This is the best live performance from John's collection. He was fresh, just starting out and still having fun. I believe later on, he became very affected by the world around him and seemed unhappy and even frustrated during performances. I went to see him in the 70's at the Summit in Houston and they locked the doors and told us that nobody was allowed out during the performance (even to go to the bathroom!) because it was too disturbing to him. He because very eccentric later in life. This is the way to hear him, when he was truly loving his music and celebrating life.
