5 out of 5 stars awesome!   November 18, 2008

I really have enjoyed this album. The growth of his music is amazing. I heard some early 90's tracks that showed promise, but nothing like his last two or three albums including his live recordings!

I love this CD. I learned all the songs quickly, and made everyone I know listen to it.

4 out of 5 stars Great CD   October 23, 2008

WOW! What an impressive cd! This music is great to chill to and relax. I had never heard of Matt Nathanson until I heard Sugarland cover "Come On Get Higher." I thought it was a great song, but never had a desire to check him out more. Then I started seing his cd around and gaining in popularity. I took a chance, and with the price, who could resist? I was highly impressed with my buy.
Matt gets things rolling with "Car Crash"-an excellent choice to start the album. The album quickly rolls into "Come On Get Higher," which is one of the best tracks on the album. Things keep rolling on the next few tunes, but start to drag with "Wedding Dress." Things get amped up in "To The Beat of Our Noisy Hearts." Other stand-out tracks are "Detriot Waves," "Still," and "Sooner Surrender." Closing the album is the beautiful, rolling, acoustic and piano-driven "All We Are." Excellent choice to end the album and also a standout track on the album.
This is a great album, give Matt a chance! You won't be dissappointed!

4 out of 5 stars Jealous of the Moon   October 13, 2008

Matt's CD jumped out from a listening station. Several tracks jump out. "Wedding Dress" resonates with Matt's passionate vocals on a slower song with a thundering guitar arrangement, "Thought I lost you; Been jealous of the moon for how it moves the waves." The acoustic "Bulletproof Weeks" scores another impassioned vocal, "What happened to feeling cheap radio song? What happened to thinking the world was flat? What happened to that?" "To the Beat of Our Noisy Hearts" has a catchy chorus and a driving instrumental attack with electric guitar and Jason McGerr's punchy drums. "Detroit Waves" is another pop blast with a riotous guitar storm and Nathanson's vocals, "...I was only there long enough to disappear." "Some Mad Hope" is a strong disc with powerful vocals, a stellar band and songs that stay in your head. Enjoy!

This is a very good CD, never heard of Matt until I bought the Sugarland CD and Come on Get Higher was on it. Matt's is much better.
