 Excellent release from an excellent songwriter August 29, 2008
I have had the chance to work with Matthew in the past (see the Warning Track compilation on Amazon), and I am extremely pleased that he has decided to release these wonderfully emotional, expertly played, perfectly translated songs, and the immediate popularity of this release is proof that excellent songwriters who put out genuinely great products do not need the trappings of a major label for an intelligent music buying public to have their offerings. every song on this MP3 album is a gem. I can't wait for more!

Matthew always delivers thoughtful and poignant lyrics, jarring you out of the comfortable corner we all paint ourselves into. "Razorblade" will make you sit up and take notice of the dark corners of our minds, while "Element" always has the power to calm and soothe.
Each song is incredible in its own way and with each listen, I want to hear more.
Consistently impressed August 28, 2008
Just over a year ago, I was dazzled by a band I'd never heard of from Birmingham, Alabama. Even though they're no more, their front man, Matthew Mayfield, continues to impress. Song after song cuts to the raw emotion of life, grips you tight, and only lets you go after you've experienced every last bit of intense feeling. So, go ahead. Take a listen, and hold on to your chair.

I bought this CD about an hour ago without even listening to it first because I knew it would be good...and it is! I love everything about it.

This isn't a big surprise to me that it hit Amazon's #1 most downloaded MP3. The Moses Mayfield CD The Inside is one of the best CD's I own and to have Matthew on his own in this CD is equally as good if not better. Keep your eye on Matthew... you'll hear him again.
