5 out of 5 stars Good Album   May 17, 2008
If you like the police at all, you should own this album. Great early work from one of the best rock bands of all.

4 out of 5 stars Zenyatta Mondatta   April 17, 2008
This was the first album I bought by the Police; it's also the last album that they would have reggae as their main impetus for their songs. This is an outstanding album. It includes the hits "Don't Stand So Close to Me" (#10), "Driven to Tears" (#35) & "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da" (#10). The album itself went to #5 & was their first major success on the American charts. Zenyatta Mondatta is a very consistent album, there isn't a bad track on it. There's also two instrumentals: "Behind My Camel" & "The Other Way of Stopping"; they're both interesting & also the last instrumentals they would record. "Man in a Suitcase" is an outstanding album track.

The unquestioned leader of the band was Sting who did lead vocals & bass. A charismatic individual, he wrote most of the songs. Andy Summers (guitar)& Stewart Copeland (drums) more than ably assisted Sting. Their next two albums would find them enjoying greater success but turmoil between the individual members would lead to their breakup after Synchronicity. These guys were on the cutting edge of the New Wave movement of rock 'n' roll bringing their mix of reggae & rock to the mainstream public. Many consider Zenyatta Mondatta to be the Police's finest album but, personally, I reserve that title for Synchronicity.

5 out of 5 stars Buy Them All   February 10, 2008
It's an album by the Police. Buy them all. Original melodies, rhythms, harmonies and textures. Polished recording that sounds unaffected.

4 out of 5 stars The Police - Another Solid Effort   January 7, 2008
By this time the Police were truly becoming monsters in both album sales and on the concert trail. The band were playing all over the world to huge crowds and this album would help to propel them to superstar status. This is another good one. I think that just about every song on this disc got played on AOR radio and several of the tracks were huge top 40 hits. The reggae influence is still here, but The Police were definitely developing their own unique sound at this point. A lot more politics and overall social issues begin to make it into the lyrics on this one as well. This is another must own for Police fans.
