5 out of 5 stars Wow!   October 27, 2008

Knowing the story about how the Chapman family lost one of their daughters to a tragic accident made this song almost sadly prophetic. Once the new verse was written as a response to the accident, the faith that Mr. Chapman has is blatantly on display. His honest words about being swallowed by the grief show that the God He serves is bigger than the greatest of tragedies. The final words of the verse reflect the hope that not only the Chapman family has, but that all of us can have, that with a relationship with Jesus Christ, we know we belong to Him, and will be united with Him in heaven.

This is a great song--and even if you aren't a big fan, to know the story, and then to listen to this song is to get a glimpse of monumental faith, and encouragement for the listener.

All the royalties from this song are going to the Maria Sue Chapman Memorial Fund and Shaohannah's Hope, Steven and Mary Beth Chapman's international adoption and orphan ministry.

5 out of 5 stars Heartbreaking and Powerful   August 5, 2008

The producers and engineers did a flawless job of weaving in the new verse from a technical and musical standpoint. However, this is clearly a different Steven Curtis Chapman singing on the new verse than the one who originally recorded the song in 2007. The urgency and heartbreak you hear in his voice over the loss of his daughter, Maria, is visceral and real. Yet as cries out "in life or death, God, we belong to you!" you feel a sense of triumph and hope that can only be realized by trusting the one who made and owns all things. It is a powerful testimony that has spoken to me. And it is made all the more meaningful by knowing that the proceeds will go to Shaohannah's Hope.
