Excellent value & taste December 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love beef jerky and have probably never bought it at a better deal than the 12 packs for $26 shipped. Very good flavor, although some may not enjoy the teriyaki as much as I do. I probably would not buy at he regular price of aprox. $50, but would definetly buy when on special again.
I need to defend this beef jerky November 21, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This brand makes really good beef jerky. And the Teriyaki tastes great! It's easy to chew and it gives you full energy. The only complain is it's a little bit too salty.... Anyway, I'm about to order my second case.
good but salty October 4, 2007 I bought this on sale, which turns to be $0.57/oz. It is good quality, but just too salty. I have to drink a lot of water with it.
Very Salty October 4, 2007 This stuff is VERY salty. The flavor is good and the meat is indeed premium stuff and not any fat in it. But again, way too salty, ruin the experience. I wanted to eat more but the salt's gonna kill me. You need at least 2 glasses of water per bag of jerky to wash down the salty taste. Also, the meat is not very chewy because they cut against the grain. It would be better if they cut with the grain so you can tear off long small strips of meat and chew.
Not everyone will like it, and very unhealthy September 16, 2007 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
I read rave reviews for Pemmican and purchased a box full. I'm a big jerky & meat lover, and am easily satisfied by most of these types of foods...HOWEVER, this Teriyaki flavoring tastes aweful.
Please note that one bag is small, and the actually serving size is more like 1 or 2 bags for the average person. In the nutritional facts, it's 3 1/2 serving. Are you kidding me? Barely over 1 Ounce is one serving?
What makes the serving count even worse is that there are almost 2.5 GRAMS of sodium. Our bodies are not meant to handle that kind of concentration. It's so salty, all you can taste is salt. It covers up the taste of an otherwise high quality food. What's the point? If you are going to cover up the natural taste with salt, you might as well use a cheaper grade meat and make a less expensive product, because it's going to taste the frigging same!
I know the die-hard Pemmican fans are going to comment on this. If you bought it and in the rare case are crazy enough to like the taste, then more power to you. I wish I could eat 3x my daily sodium requirement in a handful of jerky and not worry about health problems or getting sick. But for other people who are expecting a great product, this is why I'm writing the review. Makes the 11% cholesterol look good. Needless to say, I'm going to try to return it or will be putting the other 11 bags in the trash.
