Bounce fabric softener sheets are TOXIC Use at great risk May 8, 2008 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
First of all, you can SMELL clothes dried with Bounce from 10 feet away! It is really unpleasant; BOUNCED CLOTHES STINK. BEST TO USE THE DRYER BALLS that can be found in many catalogs. They are chemical free, without scent. Unbelievable that someone would use 4-5 sheets in a load! Mostly this product seems to be used by day laborers and recent immigrants who are new and eager Americans, and have not yet learned to BEWARE of some American products
BE CAUTIONED ABOUT THE VOLATILE CHEMICALS IN THESE SHEETS!!!! Do not just take my word for it; read the data: Fabric softener info from the EPA - Compiled by Julia Kendall/ Environmental Health Network Symptoms of exposure are taken from industry-generated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) Chemicals Found in Fabric Softeners/Dryer Sheets Alpha-Terpineol - Causes CNS (central nervous system) disorders... Pentane - "Danger - Harmful if inhaled ... Avoid breathing vapor." "Inhalation of vapors may cause headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, irritation of respiratory tract and loss of consciousness. Repeated inhalation of vapors may cause CNS depression. So it may make sense to simply avoid their use for any reason, including as a fabric softener. This is just another example of "Better Living Through Chemistry." No wonder the sheets can be used to keep flies, mice and mosquitoes away!
Great value September 8, 2007 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I really like the spring awakening scent and it helps repel lint and hair, and it truly does that.
good--as far as it goes, that is...three and one-half stars September 4, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have used Bounce fabric softener sheets for many years now with great satisfaction. As Amazon correctly notes, they help to make the clothing and anything else like towels in the clothes dryer much, much softer and they reduce static cling remarkably well. The newer "spring awakening" scent is not too heavy--just enough to give your clothing a fresh, newly washed scent to it. It shouldn't overwhelm you at all.
Although people say just throw one in at the top of the clothing just before you start the clothes dryer, I myself find one sheet or even two to be insufficient. I use about five or six sheets per wash because I like my clothing extra soft. Just throw in a sheet after you place a bunch of clothing into the dryer; and after you place more clothing in the dryer add another sheet, and so on. This method would be rather important for anyone with sensitive skin, too.
Bounce advertises on the box that you can use them to add a fresh scent or take away foul odors in places like a dresser drawer, a garbage can and even a sneaker or two. However, I cannot comment on this because I have only used them in my dryer.
There are definitely two issues, however: Don't use this product when drying anything that is flame resistant. It could easily reduce the flame resistance of the clothing. Moreover, if you are rather sensitive to any type of perfumed scent you almost certainly want to use another type of fabric softener in your clothes dryer. In addition, I personally have to use more than one or two sheets to get my clothes as soft as I want them to be. Unfortunately, I have to take off one and one half stars for this to make this a three and one half star review.
Overall, these bounce fabric softener sheets are a good product because all too often the dryer leaves your clothing feeling "hard" or even somewhat "scratchy" up against your skin. The fabric softener sheets are packaged in small boxes to make them easy to carry if you need to travel to use a laundromat, too.
