Fabulous pancakes September 30, 2008

I've been buying this pancake mix since way before the Internet era. My parents lived in Oregon and when visiting we always went to the Old Red Mill to buy cases of this pancake mix to bring home. I can't recommend it more highly. I've read other reviews where they mention adding extra ingredients but, in my estimation, you don't need to add anything to this mix to make truly wonderful pan "cakes." In fact, I like eating them just with butter, no syrup, they're so tasty. My last cake I add molasses for a special treat.

Quite good and good for you, when cooking don't leave out the oil or butter, or at least replace some of the milk with cream. I have a two year grandson that does't like to eat; but, he will eat lots of pancakes.

We get this product from wholefoods since it has the same price as amazon but if you subscribe and save then it becomes cheaper in amazon. The ingredients of this pancake mix is really healthy but it does not have the nasty taste of other healthy pancake mix. I add bananas and walnuts to the mix and then put some stevia (natural sweetener).

As a basically lazy person, I have been looking for a healthy, whole grain baking mix that tastes good and doesn't contain any dairy products. Bob's Red Mill Organic 7 Grain is the real deal. The waffles were very tasty and I did not feel like I was gnawing on grit. My only addition is a bit of sweetener and soy milk. You cannot get any better than that. And it's whole-grains.
Addendum - September 13, 2008:
I find myself using this mix much as someone would use any baking mix. It makes lovely scones and biscuits. I haven't tried any of the "impossible" dishes that rely on a well-known baking mix; however I suspect that Bob's 7-Grain Pankcake and Waffle Mix would work splendidly in that capacity as well.
