Heart Healthy Breakfast August 21, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3BTJSZR4L8KFK As much as I enjoy on occasional bacon and eggs, sausages or hash browns for breakfast, when I eat Cheerios I know I'm eating a breakfast food that's good for me.
With some sliced strawberries, banana or blue berries this becomes a very delicious breakfast, it has more vitamins than a fried breakfast and to me it has a better flavor.
Fatty foods can tire me out and drag down my energy, so a light breakfast is all I need.
Classic cereal, big box July 22, 2008 Cheerios hardly needs any introduction. Suffice it to say that this is the regular, classic Cheerios with no sugar coating nor fruit additions. The 18-oz box is an excellent value, but be sure you are prepared for the fact that it may be a bit large for the shelf on which you usually keep your cereals.
A Perfect Cereal May 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Cheerios contain oats, which contain soluble fiber, useful in absorbing some of the bad cholesterol that builds up in people's arteries and makes them candidates for heart disease.
Cheerios bind some of the cholesterol in the digestive tract and remove it in body waste. There is more fiber in oats than in whole wheat, corn, or rice. Cheerios are also a good source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
What else do I like about Cheerios? They are neat little bites suitable to feed toddlers. Babies are less like to be allergic to oats than to wheat; therefore it may be safer to try oats first in a baby's diet. They taste delicious, and they come in an attractive box. They can be used in party mix. A bowl of Cheerios with a banana is the perfect supper for us after we have eaten a large lunch.
I have one negative queston. How are Cheerios better than less expensive brands of toasted oats?
My old standby! March 15, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've been eating Cheerios since I was a kid. And enjoying this cereal! Who would have guessed that many years later, this nice tasting oat cereal would be deemed as actually good for you!
Since I tend to have a high cholesterol level, anything that helps out--even just a tad--is welcome. I still have not been put on any drugs to address the cholesterol issue, and I'd like to keep it that way. So turning to my old standby, Cheerios, has new relevance today for me.
If the nutritional data on the package are correct, then Cheerios is a good source of a number of nutrients, such as potassium, iron, folic acid, thiamin, riboflavin, Vitamins B6 and B12, and zinc (all with 25% or more of the daily values). It also has a decent level of fiber.
So, I feel pretty good about continuing to eat this standby of many decades. A nice way to start the day!
