too salty November 21, 2008 take some of the salt out and i will give it 5 stars... it way too salty
good vege-chilli November 16, 2008 This is a good "base" for vegetarian chili. Straight out of the can it may be too mild for hot-chili fans, but that is easy to change. The mix of beans and vege-meat is just right, the moisture and the seasonings are quite nice. Add "heat" (chillis, etc.) and a variety of condiments and you have a very nice, healthy meal.
Delicious, mild and versatile November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am too wimpy for spicy foods, so often rely on this chili. It's not bland, though, don't get me wrong.
I can serve this to non-vegetarian friends (though I'm honest with them about its soy meat substitute content) and they love it! A couple friends will add some Tabasco but otherwise nobody tinkers with it.
I've used this as chili with sour cream, on tostadas, as part of a Sloppy Joe, and even as a dip for crackers.
The sodium content is a bit high but I'll take the tradeoff. It makes a wonderfully comforting hot meal on a cold fall or winter evening.
Kids like this chili too!
I generally serve two to three people with each can.
It's also good with cornbread.
Yum, Yum, Yum October 14, 2008 Wow, I wasn't sure what to expect given the mixed reviews. So, I took other readers suggestions and spiced it up a little. I added some rice, a half can of tomato paste to sweeten it. I also added 6 slices of jalepano with a tablespoon of the juice. This is really good, and stays true to its intent. Very healthy choice.
For those of you who don't like the salt, just take a half of a small potato. Let it simmer and that will take care of the salt.
Worthington Chili - great food! September 12, 2008 Great vegetarian Food. Don't have time to make chili? Just use this canned version - it is great. Not spicy - add hot sauce if you want it to be spicy.
