2 out of 5 stars Okay Soup, Horrible Delivery Service   March 28, 2008

The quality of this soup is just okay, some of the chicken pieces have some fat bits on them (gross). They should use trimmed white meat only. I found the same level of quality in the Heathly Choice Chicken Rice soup, so this one is at least slightly better because it uses wild rice, not white rice. Worse though - - is that I ordered my last package of these soups on March 7 and just received them today on March 28th. That's 3 weeks transit time - just ridiculous. They used the post office instead of UPS, the post office (in my area at least) is nearly incompetent. I will never order this soup again knowing that they ship it via the post office. The Healthy Choice Veg. soup they ship UPS, so I'll stick with that... I get it in 3 days - that's the way it should be.

5 out of 5 stars I love this soup-delicious!   December 3, 2007

This is one of my favorite soups-I love the fact it's not oily or heavy feeling. I recently tried one of the Healthy Choice chicken soups, and it was twice as fattening and nowhere near as good. I just polished off a bowl of this one for dinner,,,,,at 200 calories it's quite the deal. The other review complained about the packaging, he/she may have a point, someone makes my meals, so I'm not involved in that. But as far as a good healthy soup that certainly doesn't scrimp on taste, this is a find.

4 out of 5 stars great soup--but the packaging needs help fast   November 22, 2007

Progresso makes an excellent soup and this chicken and wild rice soup with vegetables in a microwavable bowl is no exception. The soup is delicious and overall fairly healthy for you.

I like that the soup provides a good deal of chicken and both the rice and the vegetables taste fresh. The broth is also very tasty. Progresso makes a higher quality chicken soup than most other brands because they include more chicken in their chicken and wild rice soups.

One look at the ingredients shows us a few more positives: There are no trans fats and the soup is very low in fat. It is also comparatively low in cholesterol. However, it also contains sodium (900 mg!!!) so if you need to watch your salt intake, consider this before buying this product.

The top lid can be tough to take off and even then you have to handle the bowl very carefully to avoid spilling the soup. The soup is filled up to the brim of the bowl; and that makes it very tough not to spill at least a little! The top lid is actually very clunky and it doesn't really help enough when it's on top of the bowl inside the microwave oven, either. The cover doesn't completely cover the soup bowl in the microwave and some soup may well spill inside the microwave. And you DO need a solid surface on which you can open this container otherwise you are almost certain to have a spill (possibly for the second time) because the soup bowl is filled completely.

Overall, the soup itself is excellent. The packaging, on the other hand, is nothing special. The cover lid is cumbersome to remove and inside the microwave soup can spill out through the cover. The cost of the packaging makes the soup more expensive to buy. The packaging needs to be changed; perhaps Progresso could make a slightly higher bowl so that the soup won't easily spill out when you remove the plastic lid.

I highly recommend this for people who love chicken soup with wild rice and vegetables as long as they don't need to worry about sodium in their diets. If you are bothered by the packaging, however, then try another brand. Five stars for the actual soup combine with three stars for the packaging to make this a four star review.
